School Improvement Plan

As a low performing school, we have identified the following priorities for the 2020-21 school year:

1. In order to close the achievement gap in Third, Fourth, and Fifth grades in reading and math, during the 2020-2021 school year South End Elementary will implement consistent practices of small group interventions, guided reading, and guided math to promote the growth and mastery of the Reading and Math Standards with an increase in achievement from 29% to 40% GLP in reading and from 22% to 35% GLP in math as measured by performance on the iReady EOY diagnostic assessments.


2. During the 2020-2021 school year, South End Elementary will consistently implement strategies of small group interventions, guided reading, Achieve 3000, guided math, and iReady in order to promote growth and mastery to close the achievement gap of Fifth Grade Male students with Females, by increasing achievement of Fifth Grade Male students from 36.7% on the 2018-2019 EOG tests to 47.0% on the 2020-2021 EOG tests, measured by the subgroup performance on the NC EOG reading and math tests aligned to the North Carolina Standards.


3. During the 2020-21 school year, South End Elementary will consistently imp


lement strategies of small group interventions through our Title 1 Tutors, iReady, and MTSS to decrease the achievement gap of Fifth Grade students in math by increasing achievement scores from 20% grade level proficient to 40% proficient as measured by the EOY assessment in iReady.
